MTBNZ launched & bags packed

Phew! It has been a full on year and things ‘are a changing’ at a rapid pace here in Australia- and after many months of planning, we are finally moving to Christchurch in New Zealand in the first week of December. With some farewell rides with friends (see piccy) we are now at last shipping our belongings, bikes and two dogs! To say that we are excited is an understatement. After flying backwards and forwards on many occasions this year to organise somewhere to live etc- actually shipping everything over will be great! With an average summer of temperature of 21degs and an obvious lack of flies (oh my god how I hate the insects here!)- it will be a great time to move and get out on my bike to explore!

Also In preparation of my experiences on the bike in NZ I’ve developed this blog to keep a virtual ‘scrapbook’ of my time in the saddle (well- anything outdoors really) to share with my riding buddies here in Australia, friends and family. I’ve even purchased a Garmin Forerunner 305 to keep records of the distances, location, altitude, and of course how much my heart rate can tackle!! I’m really looking forward to archiving my experiences.

Friends and family have often asked…why are my wife and I moving to NZ? Well, I want to get out there in NZ and embrace the magnificent outdoors on my mountain bike!! Secondly, I’m from the UK originally and have been here in Australia for 7+ yers now and it’s simply time to explore and experience another culture. Thirdly, Amy (my wife) and I really miss the rain, cooler temperatures and of course the snow! (and NZ offers all three .. in bucket loads!) And finally, I’m wanting to expand my graphic design experiences as I’m in the creative business (if you are an employer- swap this point with the first point.. ha!!)

Anyway…. see you in NZ on the hills!
