Today my Wife (Amy) and I headed into the city to explore and check out some vegetarian restaurants/ and cafes.
We had heard that a vegetarian expo was being held at the convention centre at Hagley Park so we headed there first. The ride there and “vegi sausage sizzle” and chill out doing nothing in the sun was brilliant… as for the expo… it was not worth the $2 entry fee, put it that way!
After laying in the park for sometime soaking up the sun we cruised into the city centre to have a drink in the Cultural Precinct which was very nice. The Sunday market was on and combined with the rich tourism of the city- it was buzzing and made for some great people watching. We then set off to explore the many streets and restaurants by bike to see if any took our fancy for future vegi eats, and yes there are quite a few!
After a few hours exploring and riding at a mellow pace so that Amy was happy :) we then headed to the Dux de Lux to grab some lunch. We decided to treat ourselves with pizza and ate it sitting on the grass in the sunshine :) This was no normal pizza mind you… it was a vegetarian Mexican with Salsa, red kidney beans, refried beans, sweet corn, sour cream, guacamole, cheese and jalapeno peppers. VERY nice!
With full bellies and feeling very sun kissed we headed home after a brilliant day cruising around the city. Christchurch is a gorgeous city come Spring time :)
