Return to the Wharfedale Track

Craig, Spencer and I headed off to ride the Wharfedale track yesterday and what an epic it turned out to be!

We had originally planned to ride the track to the hut and then after lunch back again but our plans changed once we realised how many trees had fallen on the track. At every 10 metres or so for 70% of the grind there was an obstacle…..so once at the hut and all fed and watered we decided we keep on trucking to Oxford (a small town that you drive though on route to the start) and back, in an epic loop. With enough food and the flowing streams for water- off we went.

Yesterdays ride was the most challenging that I’ve done to date. We had jungle and hike-a-bike, stream crossings, rocky tracks, mud, fire roads, roads, technical, steep… you name it…. we rode it. I’m sure the days elevation would been at least 3000m+ with a distance of about 80km and 8+ hrs in the saddle….oh and more food than a UN food drop :D

Great ride and great company. What a laugh!
