Hey Jorge :) It does get hotter here and will be into the 30's before we know it. Like you- I don't mind a day out with nature in the heat- as long as i have air conditioning at home :) Things slow down a bit in the heat though- but that's good because I'm slow anyway :D

One of the perks of hot days is that the trails are often empty because everyone is at home or driving around in their cooled cars. I agree...riding in summer rain is awesome!

Your blog is looking great by the way...it looks like you have a great bunch to ride with over there. Have a good one :)

Oh....and those waterfalls look AMAZING! (enjoy!!!)

It is interesting, you have a soft summer in Christchurch, here ,were i live, in southeastern Brazil, summer is too hot but is very good because we can go to the water falls and rivers and take a refreshing bath, the days are also very beautiful and one of my favorites programs in this season is climbing, with my bike ,in a high hill and watching the sunset , is wonderful , i love , the more i see , the more i like. But... unhappily the most of the persons don´t valorize moments like this, they are pretty far from the nature.

There`s a feast out there and everyone is invited, detail:It´s is free, but they prefer to stay at home , watching tv and complaing that´s too hot,so ,we can easily understand why persons (even in the sunny countries ) are getting depressed. Bye bye Paul, have a good weekend and happy trail for you, now i have to stop of typing because is holiday here , now 3:00 pm is cool (i mean: less hot) so i will do a fast ride before o the summer storm..... huuumm i have forgotten to say: riding on the cool rain is one of the pleasures of the summer.

Indeed. If I were to buy another single speed/ hardtail- it would be a 29er for sure. Actually I'd get a 650 I think...

I remember how much choice there was back in the UK during the winter months when it came to bike riding. It's as if the soil and mud just "takes it" when repeatedly ridden on for months on end. In comparison, the trails here in Christchurch (and a fair amount across the South Island) are terrible in the wet due to soil types or that they are often covered in snow.

In reality though, NZ has fantastic weather most of the year and riding is possible for many months of the year (or more if you spend time looking for suitable winter trails). Interestingly, the North Island seems to have a sandier soil, similar to Australia so riding all year round due to fantastic drainage.

I really like the seasonal change to be honest- ride for 6 months of the year, then trail run, snow board, rock climb....what ever! But yes, there is something magic about a UK Spring/ Summer & Autumn....it's just a shame the long bleak winters.

Enjoy the Autumn time mate- I love that time of year!

Well, I don’t have a modern FS or one in a useable condition. This is the first time in ten years where my main bike is a hardtail. I miss the rear suspension sometimes but almost everything else about the Paragon is better. I might go back to FS but never back to a 26er…

Yeah cheers. It's a sweet ride for sure. In an ideal world where a set of Fox 36's were not $1600+ maybe- but I think I'll wait and try and get a bike in the next few years once the Wolf wears out, that has a set on them. I may be waiting a while lol. You don't have a dually now do you? How is it going riding everything on a hardtail?

That’s starting to look like a pretty sweet setup on the Wolf Ridge. Still planning on a new fork?
