I had the same settling in with the Fargo and like you- once i accepted the ugly and higher stem things started to mellow out. I hear you about the panniers- and I'm the same- I just cannot stand wearing a backpack now if I can avoid it. I'm loving the way your setup is looking too- so much more traditional than the Fargo....very nice indeed.

Having the ability to ride on road and off road is a real bonus isn't it? I often take short cuts or the "extended" route on the Fargo just because "I" can" :D

What racks are you looking at? I'd really like the Surly ones- but at $250 EACH......it is hard to cough up that kind of money.......but they are the best....!

Got to love wet grass with a 35c touring tyre...lol.

I didn't warm to it straight away as its taken a bit of tweaking to get comfortable. Much better now with a higher and shorter (not to mention ugly) stem.

I need to get a rack next. Once you get used to racks and panniers, backpacks lose their appeal.

I started to really enjoy it last week while riding home from work late at night. One minute I'm flying along on the road half as fast again as on my regular commuter and then I'm bombing downhill through the golf course on a "road" bike. A bit sketchy in the front end with a 35c touring tyre on the wet grass but a ton of fun.
