It typical Craig and Paul fashion we got to our accommodation and had a quick feed and were off climbing up to the highest point in the park with 30 mins of our arrival! And boy oh boy it was sticky and humid out there! Unlike most climbs though- the reward was more than I could have ever expected….infact my first ride in Rotovegas was totally and utterly off the hook. With fast, flowy and awesome rooty drop offs that just seemed to flow and flow we managed to polish a fair amount of the grade 4 trails to the left side of the park in a few hours. It was awesome!
We could have just kept going and going too with never ending singletrack snaking in every direction, but pulled the pin in anticipation of the rest of the week and came back to eat/ cook a huge pasta tea just in time for Richard & Marks late arrival. After a few hours of the best singletrack that I have ever ridden- there were no complaints at all! Day two and I’ve had the best time on a bike in months- with Rotovegas in particular being as good as the hype that you hear about- and we have many days of singletrack goodness to go!
I was that buzzed from the days ride that last night was the worst nights sleep of the trip so far…….as I just could not get the singletrack out of my head! It is that good :) This morning the Aussies are off hunting for a new set of wheels for Marks ride while Craig has just been out for a 13KM trail run and is now taking a snooze on on the living room floor :/ Meanwhile I’m struggling to keep awake with about 4 hours sleep……so today’s ride will be interesting and may see me struggling in the heat and humidity a fair bit. I must sort out my granny gearing too as currently I only have half of it working and I have a feeling that I might need them today :D
